NYC Bits: Aro x Colbo Weekend Recap
Last weekend, we spent a few days in the Lower East Side with our friends at Colbo NYC- one of our favorite spaces in the city. Part store, part café, part cultural meeting point, Colbo is the kind of place you walk into and end up staying longer than planned.
To celebrate Aro landing in the US, we hosted a weekend centered around color, music, and making things by hand. Throughout the event, we experimented with live dyeing sessions, transforming shoelaces and sneakers into one-off pieces through layers of custom color and spontaneous combinations. No two pairs ended up the same, which was exactly the point.
Set against the sounds of Dor Wand performing live across the weekend, the space slowly shifted between workshop, listening session, and casual hangout. His latest album became the soundtrack of the event, and has continued playing in our studio ever since.
More than anything, the weekend was about bringing people together. Familiar faces, new faces, conversations over wine, hands covered in dye, music drifting through the space.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by and shared a small piece of New York with us.
And if you couldn’t make it to the event, don’t worry, you can still get your hands on a pair of our most iconic, Colbo-approved Joanetas, now stocked exclusively at Colbo NYC.
